Machining
As a contract manufacturer specializing in CNC machining, we focus not only on turned and milled parts but also on the production of long-turned parts. We use special long-turning lathes for this purpose.
Specializing in CNC-machined turned parts
Long-turned parts are mechanically manufactured parts that are typically rotationally symmetric. They are elongated, usually slender CNC parts. Long-turned parts are manufactured using the turning process on lathes. This manufacturing process is a form of machining.
Long-turned parts are a type of precision turned part and are called “long-turned parts” because their length is significantly greater than their diameter. In practice, the diameter-to-length ratio is generally at least 1 to 3. Here at SPALECK, your machining specialist, we consider a part to be a long-turn part when the ratio is 1:10 or greater.
Our team will be happy to advise you on feasibility, efficiency in manufacturing, and any specific questions you may have regarding your turned parts. Just get in touch with us!
We offer you optimal, efficient production of your long-turned parts. This includes expert consultation both before and throughout the entire order process, high-quality production using the latest technology for turned and milled parts—including non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), comprehensive documentation, first-class quality assurance—including 3D measurement of components —as well as efficient and highly reliable warehousing, logistics, and delivery.

More Information
Long-turned parts are generally components of machines and assemblies. Typical applications include, for example:
High-quality manufacturing is essential for each application. At SPALECK, for example, we employ highly trained machinists and verify manufacturing quality using methods such as 3D measurement of components.
Manufacturing Expertise for Every Material
A variety of materials can be used in the production of long turned parts. Depending on the intended use, application, and customer requirements, materials such as steel, cast iron, and stainless steel—as well as copper, brass, and aluminum—are machined and mechanically processed.
In addition, special materials such as titanium are used.
As your contract manufacturer and supplier of machined parts and CNC-machined parts, we offer all standard materials—as well as highly specialized materials—for the CNC machining of your long-turned parts.
A distinction is made, among other things, between materials that are easy to machine and those that are difficult to machine. We would be happy to advise you on the best material for manufacturing your long-turned part.
Knowledge of Long-Turned Parts
There are various types of long turned parts:
Long turned parts with simple rotationally symmetric contours are machined on CNC lathes.
However, there are also complex turned-milled parts that are manufactured using high-end Machining on high-precision turning-milling machines. The contours of such parts do not necessarily have to be rotationally symmetric.
Efficient mechanical machining of long turned parts
Long turned parts are machined and manufactured using turning and milling operations, specifically longitudinal turning (usually axial) and/or face turning (radial turning).
In longitudinal turning, the rotational speed of the workpiece is adjusted to the material and the sometimes complex contour of the part being turned. The goal is to achieve a very high level of manufacturing precision during Machining. At the same time, this prevents the workpiece from being damaged during the manufacturing process.
The production of long-turned parts is monitored by qualified machinists and supported by CNC long-turning machines. This minimizes the need for any post-processing. For quality control, we also rely on 3D measurement of the components. This ensures that all manufacturing tolerances are met and the required quality criteria are fulfilled.
It is also important that our project managers closely monitor the manufacturing process and maintain direct communication with you, our customer. Through personalized consultation and close coordination, we ensure that your quality requirements for the long-turned part are fully met.
We manufacture long-turn parts both at our headquarters in Bocholt (North Rhine-Westphalia) and at our production facility for CNC long-turn parts in Greiz (Thuringia). We cordially invite you to visit us on-site to get a firsthand look at our extensive production facilities—including our metalworking operations.
Your long-turned parts and your requirements are our top priority and form the basis of our Contract manufacturing and Contract machining services.

More InformationAfter the turning process, the long turned parts can undergo further machining. Typical additional machining and post-processing steps include, for example, surface treatment or heat treatment. Of course, additional milling is also possible. In addition, the components can be ground, gear-cut, welded, or drilled to ensure they are used to their full potential.
On a CNC vertical turning machine, the long turned parts are turned fully automatically to achieve the desired shape, technical specifications, and thus the desired end product.
Thanks to our combination of manufacturing expertise, more than 150 years of experience in mechanical engineering and Contract manufacturing, and the use of state-of-the-art CNC manufacturing technology, you receive first-class, fully reproducible, and highly reliable manufacturing results.
This means your customers can also rely on the quality of your long-turned parts.
