Best Screening. Best Sorting at Skrotfrag

How Screening process and material feed measurably improve non-ferrous metal processing

At the Sjövik site, north-east of Gothenburg, Skrotfrag operates one of the largest plants for recycling non-ferrous metals in Europe. The new building was built with a clear ambition: to consistently further develop the processing – towards even higher purities, better controllable Material flows and maximum utilization of the sorting technology used.

3D COMBI and 6 ActiveFEEDs as team players for sorting

BEST SCREENING. BEST INFEED. For maximum sorting performance.

In the video, the Skrotfrag experts provide insights into the planning, goals and operation of their state-of-the-art recycling plant.

The combination of the SPALECK 3D COMBI screening machine and the 6 SPALECK ActiveFEED infeed units enables very precisely controllable plant operation. Whether online with the screening machine and one ActiveFEED or offline with the other five ActiveFEEDs:

The recycling material is fed to the sorting devices precisely, efficiently and accurately. This reduces production costs and increases output and sorting quality.

The spaleck solution

Intelligent material feed and clean Screening sizes as the key to Efficiency

At the heart of the system is the combination of precise screening and controllable material feed.

Screening technology produces defined grain bands, while the ActiveFEED systems transfer the respective Material flow evenly and reproducibly to the sorting units at the touch of a button.

The result is constant process conditions, higher sorting quality and a precisely adjustable throughput.

Technology

Technical details at a glance

The non-ferrous metal recycling plant in Sjövik was consistently designed as a complete system. Screening technology, material feed and sorting technology are interlinked and enable highly Efficiency operation with throughputs that can be controlled at the touch of a button, high material purities and process-optimized plant operation.

Precise classification with the 3D COMBI

The double-deck Vibrating screen separates the material into defined Particle sizes 0 – 5 mm, 5 – 20 mm, 20 – 60 mm, 60 – 120 mm and > 120 mm. This produces clearly defined fractions that are optimally matched to the sorting technology.

Uniform, trouble-free material feed thanks to ActiveFEED

The ActiveFEEDs ensure continuous and personnel-minimized material feeding and supply. The desired throughput is selected at the touch of a button and kept constant during operation.

Precise throughput during operation

The system makes it possible to adapt the Material flow exactly to the requirements of the material or process. Throughput, quality and personnel deployment can be specifically coordinated.

No bottlenecks in processing

All components are integrated into a higher-level plant control system. This means that the Screening process, material feed and sorting work as a coordinated unit.

TRANSFERABILITY for your preparation

Concepts for sophisticated metal recycling processes

The project shows that the quality of the processing is largely determined by the upstream process steps. The combination of classification and controlled material feed can be transferred to many applications:

FAQs

Here you will find some questions about your work at SPALECK. If you still have questions, just write to us.

The ActiveFEED infeed unit pays for itself from day one, as it significantly increases the recovery rate of non-ferrous metals in metal recycling, for example. In many cases, the payback period is less than half a year. We’d be happy to advise you personally on this. You can see exactly how it works in case studies such as those from STENA Recycling or KMR Recycling.

Yes, you can easily retrofit the SPALECK ActiveFEED infeed unit. Many of our customers replace their standard feed units and achieve significantly better and more profitable sorting results as a result. See the feedback from our customer STENA here to learn how easy the replacement is.

Yes, the ActiveFEED is ideal as a feeding system for X-ray sorting technology, such as XRF or XRT sorting systems. When used with XRF and XRT sorting machines, it enables fully automatic, continuous material feeding. This allows recycling companies to use the ActiveFEED to feed their sorting machines fully automatically with the optimal amount of material for each specific sorting machine and recycling material. This increases both sorting efficiency and throughput. In addition, sorting quality can be significantly improved through optimal feeding.
