“Blood donations are important, especially now during the coronavirus pandemic, when the number of donations tends to be lower,” reports Coen van Wilgen. Our trainee was instrumental in preparing the company’s internal donation together with the DRK Blood Donation Service West at the company headquarters.
“Our SPALECK blood donation day has now become an integral part of our year-round health activities for the team. The processes are perfectly coordinated and the preparation and implementation with the DRK team works really well,” says the budding industrial clerk happily. The organization of the blood donation at SPALECK has therefore now developed into a trainee task in the marketing department.
Reinhard Große-Sundrup from Blutspendedienst West adds: “Corporate donations like the one here at SPALECK are very important to us. The fact that this is already the sixth event here on site shows that it is also very possible for medium-sized companies to organize a donation. We rely on a combination of our DRK blood donation bus for the blood collection and the company’s premises for the preliminary registration and medical consultation.” This makes corporate donations very efficient to carry out.
The fact that the appointment at the company’s own health center was well received is shown by the almost 60 units of blood collected. “Women can donate up to four times a year, men up to six times. And after a coronavirus vaccination, you can donate again the very next day. I am therefore personally very pleased about the great turnout,” confirms co-organizer and apprentice Coen van Wilgen.
After the donation, all employees were able to resume their work safely after a short break and refreshment. In this context, our SPALECK team would like to thank the donors for their great commitment and the Blood Donation Service West and the DRK Bocholt municipal association for the great cooperation. Reinhard Große-Sundrup and Coen van Wilgen agree: “We will now agree on the joint donation date for 2022 at very short notice.”
